Where to insulate

For good energy efficiency, your home should be properly insulated from the roof down to the foundation. This includes the following areas:

- Attic space

- Ducts in conditioned spaces

- Cathedral ceiling

- Exterior walls

- Floors above unheated garages

- Rim Joists

- Foundations (Basements, Crawl spaces, Slab-on-grade floors)

Areas that are commonly neglected:

- Walls separating living area from the attached garage

- Walls and ceiling of basement garages

- Top and Bottom Plates

- Narrow cracks around window and door framing

- Electrical Boxes
